The Most Magnificent Thing

Star Rating:  5 Stars Netgalley review. I really like the font, very pretty. Art is computer generated and nice. I like how half of the art is black and white and half is color. And some, is a mixture of both. Cool.  I really like the layout of the book. This book is a lot of fun.  It tells the story of a young girl trying to make a magnificent thing. She and her pug dog try to make this thing but gets really frustrated. After a break she realizes what is wrong and is able to make her thing.  Its a good lesson to teach kids, that sometimes after taking a break you can see what was frustrating you and you can fix it.  Very well done. Highly recommended....

Star Rating Art: 5 Stars Star Rating Story: 5 Stars Netgalley review. First Impression:  Art is nice, poetry is good.  I wasn’t expecting the text to be in poetry form but I don’t mind it. This is a proof copy. I can’t tell if the fi Very original. Loving the poetry and the black and white art is great too.   This is a great graphic novel. I wasn’t positive about it at first but by the end I totally loved it.  It’s a cute love story of Dreary and Naughty. Dreary is a s skeleton who tends to be depressed and am not sure what Naughty is supposed to be. Maybe a demon of some sort and she is a popular girl in school. . In any case they are a cute couple.   This...

The Mark of the Dragonfly

Star Rating: 3 ½ Stars Netgalley review. First Impression:  I’m impressed, just jumps right into the action. I like that. With netgalley, I don’t have good luck picking out books to read. I get good luck with the graphic novels. But this one is impressing me.   I have to say that this book is really hard to categorize.  It’s a little YA. A little Dystopia, a little Fantasy and a smidgeon of steampunk.   Oh and maybe a little sci-fi. The premise is that in this dystopia type world, meteors strike the planet and everyone has to take cover. When you are allowed out, the people go running and search for treasures from other worlds (example being a Wizard of Oz Book). The people sell the treasures to make money for food etc. While it...

Anya’s Ghost

Jan 28, 2014 by

5 Stars for Art and story. Gift, for Kindle First Impression:  Ok. art is great.  This MUST be foreign, as children are talking about smoking. O.o The art is black white and blueish. Very cool looking. The story and art are very original. A teenager named Anya falls down a well and meets a ghost. She is rescued but inadvertantly brings the ghost with her. Very accurately portrays how mean highschool teen girls are.  The ghost quickly becomes a problem. I don’t want to summarize to much because it would give the fun of reading it away.  It does get a bit creepy, but it is also funny, and heart warming in parts.  I wouldn’t recommend this for kids as its a bit creepy, but its definitely a fantastic graphic novel. It will definitely...

The Mermaid and the Shoe

Jan 28, 2014 by

5 Stars Netgalley review- on iphone. First Impression: Loving the art. I love it when the colors completely fill the pages and there aren’t borders. Minnow is a mermaid who has 49 sisters, all of whom are talented at something, except for Minnow. Minnow is only good at asking lots and lots of questions. One day she discovers a shoe and sets out to discover what a shoe is. She finds out and returns home. Her sisters are dismissive, but her father, King Neptune shows he adores his daughter just like she is. This book is so juicy and sweet and amazing. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book....

Courtney Crumrin Volume 5: The Witch Next Door...

Star Rating Art:  5 Stars Star Rating Story:  4 Stars Overall  4.5 Stars Netgalley Review. However, I have already pre-ordered the hardback version because I love this series so much. I was so excited I could read it early on Netgalley. Overall, very good.  But the first part of the book was weaker than the rest.  The Last chapter is where things get really interesting with Uncle A being sick and Courtney having to go on the run.  The parts with the neighbor started out good but then got boring.  So this book was really a mix for me.  I really hope there are a few more volumes before the series ends as the back of the book says the last two volumes were done in 2010. First chapter- a flashback via reading of...
