Albert the Alien Goes to the Movies...

4 Stars, borrow/buy it Self Purchase, kickstarter campaign, paperback. I haven’t read the graphic novel that I’m sure explains stuff but I wanted to read this individual comic anyway. Cute and fun, but it didn’t flow well to me. It seemed choppy.. Instead of doing two short stories, they should have done one longer one. I know these are meant for kids but kids attention spans do last longer than 2 or 3 pages.  The thing I really like about these, and is part of the reason I didn’t rate this 3.5 stars, is that there were fun extras in the back. I haven’t done them yet but they look cute. Included in this section is:  1-  a small crossword puzzle 2 – Albert Mad libs 3- Alberts movie trivia challenge and  4- a...

Girls Night Out: The Way Love Goes...

Oct 7, 2014 by

3.5 Stars, Buy it for collection   Kickstarter, Papercopy. This kickstarter comic has short stories collected. Some carry over issue to issue, others do not. This is the third in the series, and I’m seriously hoping there will be more in the future. Needless to say, I’m glad I helped kickstart this!  However, this is the weakest one in the series. Too many WTF stories. I’d still buy it for collection and or to help an indie author out.   Girls Night Out: Best Friends- Nursing home setting but also goes back in time. Great read, really want to see where this goes. 4 Stars   Captain, My Captain- This is a new story in the collection. A bit crazy.  Someone kills the captain of a space ship. A robot retalliates. 4 Stars  ...

Girls Night Out: Tales from New York...

Oct 6, 2014 by

4 Stars. Buy it   Kickstarter, Paperback   It looks like some of the stories are continued from the first issue, which I like.  My rating actually averaged to a.6 something. I actually enjoyed this more than the first issue so I decided to round up and give it the same rating as number 1.   Overall, I highly recommend the writers work (Amy Chu). She has a great sense of humor. The artists are different for each story (but the same ones from issue 1 mostly). If you like indie comics. I highly recommend these.  This comic is making me a little sad. Because I was with someone for 8 years and my heart was broken when she left. She is the one who got me into comics. I tried to stay friends with...

Girls Night Out and Other Stories...

Oct 6, 2014 by

4 Stars   Kickstarter comic, Paperback.   Collection of short story comics. For some reason I thought they were GLBT stories but they aren’t. Still enjoying them anyway.  I’ve found some really interesting comics through Kickstarter, some not so good but this one is very good. Glad I supported it. Overall well done. I think the writer Amy Chu, writes all the stories but the art has different artists per story.  I also have issue 2 and 3.  I hope they are as enjoyable as this one was.   Girls night out- really like the art, story is pretty good as well. 4 Stars   Closure-  Another good short story about the killing of Osama Bin Laden and Al Quadea and the military. 4 Stars   Corporate Bob Levels Up-  An average story of...

Recipies for the Dead Issue #2

Aug 29, 2014 by

4.5 Stars, buy it Kickstarter, Digital Copy (read on iphone) Love the art. I believe this is considered Manga but not sure. Anyway,  Love the main character whose name which is Twist. She is sweet and young and innocent. In some places, the font/type is hard to read but in others its fine. SPOILERS A basic summary is this: In the first issue, Twist manages to steal a magical cookbook.  In this second volume, Twist bakes some cookies to impress a boy.  Just as they kiss, a mysterious, bad person arrives and then the issue is over. My only complaint is that the single issues are so short so I just get back into it when it’s over. Highly recommend this series.  At least I know there is one more issue coming and hopefully...

Family Portraits Issue 3

Aug 20, 2014 by

4 Stars, buy it   Kickstarter Comic (Which means I donated to kickstarter campaign)   The first issue in this series was really amazing.  The second two, it seemed to have lost something. However, I still think it’s really good at portraying what GLBT people are going through, in particular this issue transgender.    Overall, the series is really good at helping people who are not GLBT understand what struggles GLBT people go through. Very glad I helped supported the kickstarter campaign.   I love the art and I love the characters. But I feel like some of the stories need to be fleshed out a little more. Cover: I really like the screaming child on the cover of this issue. Amusing. Plot/Storyline:   Tika Tonu- I’m guessing this is Japanese? Not really sure what...
