Usagi Yojimbo: Yokai

Jun 3, 2015 by

Overall: 2.5 stars, don’t bother   Story: 2 Stars Art: 3 Stars   Self Purchase, Humble Bundle.   First Impression: like the art well enough   Very simplistic story line . Expected more from this. I know this is meant for kids but I like kids stuff and just don’t think this is all that great. It didn’t need to be this simplistic for kids.Dialogue was unexciting and everything was pretty predictible.   Also it was really short. The art was better than the story but not by much. I don’t think I’ll read more of these unless they are included in an awesome Humble Bundle again.   Description (Comixology): Yokai are the monsters, demons, and spirits of Japanese folklore, such as the shape-changing kitsune, the obakeneko demon cats, and the evil oni ogres. Usagi...

Courtney Crumrin Vol 7 Tales of a Warlock...

Mar 30, 2015 by

I’m back! And here is a short review for you. 2.5 Stars, don’t bother The book is physically beautiful as the first 6 volumes. Unfortunately thats about all I can say thats good about it. This volume had two stories in it. The first one is about Courtney’s uncle when he was younger. While interesting, I really missed Courtney being in it and it wasn’t as great of a storyline. The second story wasn’t any better and made me miss Courtney’s character even more.  Even if you loved the other volumes in the series, I wouldn’t recommend this one. I was very disappointed....

Going Rogue

Feb 18, 2015 by

2.5 Stars, don’t bother   Don’t know much about the xmen on Rogues team in this xmen universe. Rogue goes back to her home town to help contain a new mutant. She ends up learning more about her past. I”m not sure what to make of this. I kinda sorta like it but I’m not terribly impressed either. Somewhat interested but really don’t feel like finishing it....

Alligators Look and Learn

Feb 3, 2015 by

2.5 Stars, don’t bother   So at this point with this series, I don’t really care about what order I’m reading them in so for the most part I’m going from what I’ve had on my kindle the longest.  I think I’ve done all the fuzzy and cute ones that I’ve had so I’m down to animals I don’t have a huge interest in and some non animal ones.. I’m also a bit bored with doing these so I doubt I’ll get any more. I’d like to review National Geographic kid books which I actually don’t mind paying for.   The pictures are small and hard to see and somewhat pixelated. I don’t like that there really isn’t an explanation on what makes alligators different than crocodiles.  Overall, I didn’t learn much about alligators...

Snakes! Look and Learn

Dec 24, 2014 by

2.5 Stars, don’t bother   One of my new year reading goals is to try to finish reviewing all of these Look and Learns that I got for free from Amazon.  Work and life got really hectic during December so I hope with the new year, I will be able to find some more time to reviewing these. In any case, at this point, i’m just going through them in order and snakes came up next. I’m not particularly interested in them.   Pictures are pretty small and hard to see. I’ve found some contradictory information. In one place the book says there are more than 3000 species of snakes. In another place it says there are more than 2,700 species of snakes. Which one is it? Did anyone bother to edit these?  Also...

Fairy Quest: Outlaws Issue 1

Oct 20, 2014 by

Overall: 2.5 Stars, Bombed!!   Star Rating Art:   4 Stars Star Rating Story: 1 Star Self Purchase, Humble Bundle   SPOILERS   An alternative version of red riding hood in which Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf are friends.  Lots of asides with Mr. Grimm issuing citations for people going off script. Then the comic gets abrubt and all the fairy tale characters are in a boot, sort of having group therapy. Cinderella rats out Red Riding hood to Mr. Grimm and a chase ensues yada yada. I just skimmed the rest.   I really liked the art, it had my favorite characteristics. Art taking up all the pages, not much white. Bright Jewel tone colors. Very nice art. However, the story totally just bombs. It’s a mess. Completely all over the...
