Rat Queens #12

3.5 Stars, buy it Self Purchase, Comixology This definitely wasn’t my favorite Rat Queens issue.  We do find out that most of the girls have a secret they are hiding from the others.   A mysterious person/creature is after Hannah. The girls have to flee and are collapsing in the snow and there the issue ends. This definitely was not a fantastic issue. There was one or two funny moments, but for the most part this was pretty unexciting to me.  However, because I love this comic so much, I’m still going to recommend buying the issue. I’m just hoping the next issue is a bit better. Description (Comixology): Along the deadly mountain trail leading to Mage University, Hannah stumbles across an old friend from an old life. The mysterious figure knows a secret past...

Jem and the Holograms #6

Sep 8, 2015 by

3.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology Jem and the holograms are disqualified from the competition due to the food fight. The misfits are not which seems like total bs. The misfits are furious with Clash for possibly almost killing Jem. Kimber is told in no uncertain terms could should date a member of Jem and the holograms. Rio is giving Jerrica a hard time about Jem not being around. Kimber is being questioned by the holograms about her secretly dating Stormer. While the Misfits are performing Jem ends up performing though it’s a little unclear how. And that is how the issue ends. The art continues to be fantastic and unfortunately Sophie Campbell is leaving for 4 months or so. Hopefully that doesn’t mean the art is going to suck after this.  This...

3.5 borrow. Buy.Borrow   Self Purchase, Kindle Edition   Normally, I have a thing about reading introductions, they usually just bore the crap out of me. But this is a Murakami book. He’s my favorite author at the moment. It was interesting to read for a change (probably because I like his writing so much). My only issue was that it was a weird switch from reading about the author and writing and then starting one of the two stories in the book which deals with a writer. It confused me for a moment or two. This book is two early stories of Murakami combined into a book.   Hear the Wind Sing- a little novella about a young man (whom I think is a writer?). Of course there is mention of music...

Jedi Academy: The Phantom Bully...

Aug 11, 2015 by

3.5 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Kindle Edition In this volume, Roan is about to enter his final year at Jedi Academy the middle school. Hopefully this doesn’t mean an end to the series. I love how favorite characters from Star Wars appear (R-2, Yoda). In between pages of the comics are flyers and various other materials (including pages from Roan’s journal) from the school. They are very sweet and fun.   However, the series does seem to get a bit repetitive and predictable. While this one was fun, it was really only an average rating....

Trees #10

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Comixology This issue starts with the new Mayor and some political crap I found rather boring. Meanwhile, Dr. Jo is starting her new job. I’m still really digging the art in this series. However, I’m not thrilled with this second story arc. I like Dr. Jo’s character and will definitely keep reading. But, this issue sorta stunk. First of all, it seemed extra short. Secondly, Absolutely nothing interesting happened. Ugh. Not thrilled but I’m still holding out hope that the story of the trees and the people come back into play more.  I still miss the people from the first arc.   Sometimes I find it hard to decide whether to recommened buying or borrowing it because I’d say buy it for the entire series, but if going on just...

Technically Magic #1

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Kickstarter, paperback Definitely like Zawa’s character. She and her instructor Skirnir, meet Kai and his Golem on the beach. They decide to allow Kai and the Golem to travel with them and so they make camp. Kai follows Zawa and Skirnir when they go off to deal with a problem which turns out to be zombies. And that’s about it. I really like the art, it’s especially nice. I love how it fills the pages and there is not any large borders which eat up the limited art space. The colors are fantastic, bright and bold and really grabbed my attention Ok, here is where I turn into a book nerd.  I LOVE the feel of the paper as I’m reading this. It’s awesome and pretty. However, I feel...
