The Wicked + The Divine #8

Jun 3, 2015 by

3 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology Laura and Cassandra go to a party to investigate (possibly Lucifer’s murder?).. Laura gets high from one of the Gods. What happens after that I’m not entirely sure.  I’m not liking this story arc as much as I did the first one but will continue to read the series.  I still really love Laura’s character and I love the pagany gods. Just wish this arc was less confusing!! Also, the art is super weird but it definitely portrays the party scene accurately and it doesn’t last entire issue. Description (Comixology): Now the eleventh god is here, it’s time to party. You’re invited. Everyone’s invited. We can sleep when we’re dead-but when you’ll be dead within two years, you may as well turn up in your pyjamas. After...

Gotham City Sirens #20

May 12, 2015 by

3 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology Most of the issues of Gotham City Sirens up until this point had been pretty decent.  This is the lowest rating I’ve given any of them (I think). This is all about Harley going after the Joker. Nothing with Catwoman or Poison Ivy, which I really think was the point of this series.  While this wasn’t terrible, it still needed work. I felt like it was disjointed in places and the digital jumps didn’t seem to work right in all of the places. I will keep reading them as I think I got all of them but if they get worse, I may give up on them. Description (Comixology): “Hell Hath No Fury” part 1! Harley Quinn heads to Arkham Asylum, but this time she’s breaking in...

All-New X Men Volume 1

May 4, 2015 by

3 Stars, borrow it   Self Purchase, Comixology   SPOILERS   At first I liked this, but by the end of the 3rd/4th issues, I got bored. I usually like Bendis writing but this just wasn’t interesting me. I read enough to give this a rating but I am abandoning this at 75% because life is too short for stuff you are not enjoying.  I did like that two of my favorite X-Men were in this- Hank (The Beast) and Kitty Pryde. Love them both.  I  also liked how there’s some great lines and good humor.   However, time travel stuff just confuses me so I tend not to read it (With the exception of Exiles which I loved.).  Anyway, this series has been cancelled anyway so maybe I’ll just go back to Astonishing...

Komondo Dragons! Loook and Learn...

Dec 29, 2014 by

3 Stars, borrow it   The pictures were decent in this volume of the Look and Learn series.  It was sort of interesting but really kind of boring. All of these books are just superficial facts of the animal and don’t really teach you much other than the basics. That being said, I did still did learn a little and the pictures were decent size and quality. Did you know?   Komodo Dragons can reach length of more than 10 feet and weigh more than 300 pounds A Komodo Dragon’s teeth are it’s most dangerous weapon The Komodo Dragon detects odors much like a snake does Komodo Dragons are found in tropical forests They can take up to 30 years to reach its full size When they feel threatened they will throw up...

The Adventures of Kory: Flight of the Kiwi...

Dec 17, 2014 by

3 Stars, borrow it I find the writing to be a bit choppy, it doesn’t flow that well. The art is ok, but there is something off about it but I can’t tell you what it is. I like that the art takes up all of the space but it’s almost like there is too much detail. Maybe it’s because I’m reading this on my computer and not on paper. In anycase, I realize this is meant to be for kids, but honestly I didn’t feel like it was all that well done. It was ok but definitely just very average. Plot:  This tells the story of a kiwi in New Zealand and his friends A Wolf goes to New Zealand to try to capture the bird and his family. While Kory and Bert...

The Story of Owen

Dec 16, 2014 by

3 Stars, don’t bother So I’m giving this a rating even though I’ve abandoned it at about 56% in. I feel like if you’ve read that much of it you can give it a fair rating.   I picked this out because my son’s name is Owen and I usually love stuff with dragons in it.  But honestly, I was bored to tears. Dragons come, dragons get slain and Owen’s friend becomes his bard. Yawn.  There were things that I did like about this book.    I love how Owen’s aunt is lesbian and a dragon slayer. I obviously love Owen’s name though personality wise he was really flat. I also think it’s not badly written, i just really feel like more needed to happen. I was SO bored. I also found this to be...
