Oddly Normal #10

4.5 Stars, Buy it   Self Purchase, Comixology Finally getting back to reviewing some comics on my lunch break.  We were slammed at work for a few weeks so I didn’t have much time. I’m finally recovered. Love the school bug. I adore the little critter that follows Oddly around (See issue 9).  I still love the art work and color. I like how they talk about comic books.   Basically in this issue Oddly goes to school and attends her first sporting event. Over all, sweet and fun. But in the back of the issue is bad news. This is the last individual issue of Oddly Normal. It apparently does better in book format. Good news is, the individual chapters should still be coming out digitally, which is how I read them. So, I’m...

Assasin’s Apprentice

Sep 9, 2015 by

4.5 Stars, Buy it I won this paperback via goodreads. This book really pulls you in and keeps you there.  This is the story of Fitz, a prince’s bastard child. Fitz is basically raised by the Prince’s stable person (Burrich). And while at first you don’t really like Burrich, toward the end of the book things happen that make you really happy that he turns out to be a great person.  Fitz is being raised to be an Assassin’s apprentice and this book marks the first part of his life. (I’m hoping the second and third in this trilogy continue Fitz’s story). Fitz of course has ups and downs, but fortunately, most of the plot does not prove to be anxiety provoking for me.  My favorite thing about Fitz is his love of animals...

Gotham Academy #9

4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology Finally some time to read a comic on a lunch break! Olive is off doing something on her own in the woods when the gang catches up to her. After some investigating the gang discovers there is a werewolf on campus. Olive finds out a little more history of her past. And she starts talking to Tristan. A werewolf attacks. Some other stuff happens but I don’t want to ruin it. This was one of the better issues of Gotham Academy. The story line moved, things happened. I really enjoyed this issue (I pretty much always do). My only complaint is that I wasn’t quite sure what was happening at the end of the issue. But anyways, overall fantastic issue. Love this series. Description (Comixology): If...

Cleopatra in Space #2 The Thief and the Sword...

4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Kindle Edition It’s been a while since I’ve read a graphic novel on my kindle- as opposed to reading on my computer via comixology. I forgot how nice and clean the images are on a smaller screen. I love the coloring and the art. Love talking cats. I can’t ever get enough of talking cats. This series is really how kids/teen books should be done. I love the story line. I love the characters. I love the art.  I wished the scenes without Cleopatra had been cut back on. She is what really makes this series and I felt like there were too many scenes that missed her. In any case, this series is fantastic. This volume leaves off on a bit of a cliff hanger so it’s going...

4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Kickstarter, Paperback This is the story of Faye in the world of Amya. She is mute and accidently has a run in with a man who turns into a travelling companion of hers (I’m still a little confused as to how this really happened though I know I read it!). After some small adventures they end up in a town and end up killing a creature while at a hotel and there they meet another person, named Kaden, who becomes part of their group. Lots of stuff happens. More people are met, Faye gets left alone. More trouble happens. Faye gets briefly reunited with her family members. It appears, Faye’s cat, Rainn decides to come along on the journey. They all travel to Accel’s home and Faye is...

Mage Inc. #2

4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology Keira’s mentor is in deep trouble for something that happened in issue 1. But Albert, is sort of forced to take Keira out on another call in which they are trying to recruit a freelance mage. While on the call, Keira and Albert are attacked by mythological creatures. Albert seems to be warming up to Keira. That’s about it. I really like Keira’s character (and her name!). She’s fiesty and a bunch of trouble. Plus anyone with pink hair rocks.I love the little gizmo type creature that is in the background of Mage Inc.  Again, i like the fact that Albert Lamus, and some other characters are black. It’s not often there are people of color or other ethnicities in some of these comics. I like the...
