4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology I really love this series so far, but that being said, I still don’t get the opening pages of this series. In every issue it almost starts like a book. It’s a bit weird but so far it really is the only thing I don’t like much about the series. The champion and the white dog go to investigate why the group was attacked by bats and also to see the Bison situation. Meanwhile Goodfoot is manipulating Councillor Sandorst and is plotting the destruction of the survivors or so it seems. The champion and Dusty return to the group and the champion is bargening with Goodfoot.  The issue pretty much ends there. I like this issue, but not quite as much as the others. I realize not...

Oh, Hell Volume 1: Chyrsalides

4.5 Stars, Buy it   Self Purchase, Kickstarter, Physical paperback edition   First Impression:  Seems pretty awesome.   So a bunch of very troubled teenagers get sent off to boarding school which turns out to be in hell. The main character is a girl named Abigail- but goes by Zoel. I love her messy look and multiple hair colors. In between chapters there are pages that are done up like school papers and they describe all sorts of problems that Abigail has been getting into.  Zoel shares a room with two guys. Zipper I believe is the black guy and I’m not sure of other dudes name. Zoe’s enemy in school is Alese.   Chapter one is basically about how the kids all get to the school. Chapter two is where things start...

Lazarus #17

4.5 Stars, Buy it   Self Purchase, Comixology   The issue opens up with a lot of violence and cusing. Meanwhile the head of the Caryle family, Forever’s father is ill. Johanna is harrasing the brother that has taken over the heading of the family. At first I didn’t think I was going to like this because it was heavy on the war stuff. But I ended up really liking this issue.  Forever is being sent in to try to stop the losing battle of the families.  The art is still good to great (can be a bit blurry reading it on a big computer screen) but the story is awesome still and will be fun to see where it goes. I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next issue!!...

The Only Living Boy #2

4.5 stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology I like how Erik, a youngish boy actually carries around a teddy bear with him (ok so its part of a backpack). It’s nice to see a boy that is willing to be a little vulnerable despite everything that is going on with him and his world.  Erik is alone after the escape from the prison. He is chased by demons and eventually caught by the groundlings- which turns out to be a good thing.  The groundlings, despite their not so great appearance, are actually kinda funny.  But then they turn on Erik. And of course, this is left on another cliffhanger. Fortunately, I still have number 3 before I’m all caught up.  Definitely a fun comic, especially if you like young adult graphic novels as much...

The Wicked + The Divine #6

4.5 Stars, Buy it   Self Purchase, Comixology   So I did end up subscribing to this even though in my review of the first volume I said I wasn’t going to.  The waiting for graphic novels sucks but I really should do it to try to save a little  money. In any case, Lucifer is dead and the world is reacting. Laura is hurting, and is upset that she can’t now do any magic.  She ends up meeting Inanna (sp?) and agrees to help her though I wasn’t clear how.   I really like Laura’s character. I like that she’s interracial. She has awesome hair too. But I like how she’s real and very believable. I miss Lucifer, who was a butchy woman. I love the art and the coloring. However,I could have...

The Only Living Boy #1

4.5 Stars, Buy it   Self Purchase, Humble Bundle.   First Impression- I really like the art style.   A young boy runs away from his past that he can’t remember. He wakes up in a world not his own. Fairies! So of course I’m going to have to keep reading this. Of course there are monsters too.  Erik, the young boy, is forced to fight for his life. The creature he fights turns out to be Morgan, a creature who had earlier saved his life. Another creature is thrown into the mix and then they all escape the prisons where they were being held.  That is my general summary of issue #1.   I hate it when I see ratings on something I haven’t read yet.  I never can tell if it has...
