Wytches #2

3 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology I’m pretty confused as to what is going on. The description from Comixology says a busload of children disapear in the woods. I really didn’t see that happening. Sailor drove a bus into the woods but there weren’t children on the bus as far as I could tell.  I liked the first issue more than is.  I bought through issue 6 since comixology had a sale on. If I have time I’ll read some more. But honestly this series is pretty confusing. I really do like the art and the colors though. I just wish the story weren’t so confusing. Description (Comixology): A busload of children disappears in the woods. A strange bite grows on a girl’s neck. And the wytches are getting closer, creeping from the...

Trees #10

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Comixology This issue starts with the new Mayor and some political crap I found rather boring. Meanwhile, Dr. Jo is starting her new job. I’m still really digging the art in this series. However, I’m not thrilled with this second story arc. I like Dr. Jo’s character and will definitely keep reading. But, this issue sorta stunk. First of all, it seemed extra short. Secondly, Absolutely nothing interesting happened. Ugh. Not thrilled but I’m still holding out hope that the story of the trees and the people come back into play more.  I still miss the people from the first arc.   Sometimes I find it hard to decide whether to recommened buying or borrowing it because I’d say buy it for the entire series, but if going on just...

4 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Humble Bundle A teenager (Sail?) and her parents move to a new town. (Mom in a wheelchair by the way). In the previous town a girl who bullied Sail disappeared and Sail is apparantly blamed.  In this first issue it’s getting to know everyone. The art is fantastic, I’m definitely loving the colors. I like the story line so far, its creepy and I’m not sure where it’s going to go.  I think I may try a few more issues on comixology to see if it continues to be good. Description (Booklikes): Across the globe, century after century, men and women were burned, drowned, hanged, tortured, imprisoned, persecuted, and murdered for witchcraft. None of them were witches. They died protecting a terrible and hidden truth: witches, real...

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Kickstarter, paperback Definitely like Zawa’s character. She and her instructor Skirnir, meet Kai and his Golem on the beach. They decide to allow Kai and the Golem to travel with them and so they make camp. Kai follows Zawa and Skirnir when they go off to deal with a problem which turns out to be zombies. And that’s about it. I really like the art, it’s especially nice. I love how it fills the pages and there is not any large borders which eat up the limited art space. The colors are fantastic, bright and bold and really grabbed my attention Ok, here is where I turn into a book nerd.  I LOVE the feel of the paper as I’m reading this. It’s awesome and pretty. However, I feel...

The Wicked + The Divine #9

3 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology This is another seriously confusing issue. Especially in the parts that deal only with the gods. Meanwhile, Laura comes home to her parents very upset and it’s not clear why. I’m definitely not liking this story arc as much. I think, but am not completely positive, the person who was pulling the new gods to earth us finally done with the arrival of Cassandra whom appears to be at least somewhat interesting.  If the story continues to be confusing and weird, I may cancel the subscription to it.  But I still really like Laura and her interaction with the Gods so I’m not sure yet. Description (Comixology):It’s time for a private audience with Anake, she who has protected and judged the Pantheon for thousands of years. Yes,...

All New X-Men #41

3.5 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology Shield asks some of the X-Men students to help them on Utopia. They arrive and meet the Utopia Mutants. There is some fighting but they all seem to end on decent terms. The utopians end up at the new mutants school. And there it ends. This story line will be concluded in another x title so this was it.  I wasn’t terribly impressed with it, but it wasn’t terrible either.  Will need to start with another X title. Description (comixology): Who are the Utopians? And what secret do they hold that pertains to the future of mutantkind? The All-New X-Men may regret finding out!...
