Wytches #2

3 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Comixology I’m pretty confused as to what is going on. The description from Comixology says a busload of children disapear in the woods. I really didn’t see that happening. Sailor drove a bus into the woods but there weren’t children on the bus as far as I could tell.  I liked the first issue more than is.  I bought through issue 6 since comixology had a sale on. If I have time I’ll read some more. But honestly this series is pretty confusing. I really do like the art and the colors though. I just wish the story weren’t so confusing. Description (Comixology): A busload of children disappears in the woods. A strange bite grows on a girl’s neck. And the wytches are getting closer, creeping from the...

Saga #30

5 Stars, buy it. Self Purchase, Comixology SPOILERS Love the cover on this issue. Alana appears again in what seems like a million issues and she attacks a guard to get free. She gets some extra help escaping. Alana’s mother in law has the daughter but then they are recaptured.  Oh thank the gods- Marko and Alana are back together. That’s about it but that was more than enough and it was emotional and awesome. One thing I’m not happy with is that Alana used the term retard.  Retard is slang and I get it but it is also extremely insulting and really hurts people who are mentally challenged. I would much prefer the F word or anything else. Of course I should have kept reading before jumping to comment because the person who...

4 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology LOVE the cover of this issue. Purple is awesome. Anyway, I really could have used a recap on this issue, I couldn’t remember who died so I was pretty confused at first. One of the kids is able turn into some kind of bat like creature.  Olive is mad at Kyle and is hurting from the loss. Mia and Kyle confront Tristan who runs off. Stuff happens, Olive confesses to Kyle that she’s behind some of the stuff happening at the school. Anyway, we find out at the end who died and it turns out I didn’t miss anything. Olive’s mom had died and sent her a letter. Still loving the coloring and art.. Still love Mia (Maps) character, she is too cute and awesome.  Anyway, over...

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Comixology This issue starts with the new Mayor and some political crap I found rather boring. Meanwhile, Dr. Jo is starting her new job. I’m still really digging the art in this series. However, I’m not thrilled with this second story arc. I like Dr. Jo’s character and will definitely keep reading. But, this issue sorta stunk. First of all, it seemed extra short. Secondly, Absolutely nothing interesting happened. Ugh. Not thrilled but I’m still holding out hope that the story of the trees and the people come back into play more.  I still miss the people from the first arc.   Sometimes I find it hard to decide whether to recommened buying or borrowing it because I’d say buy it for the entire series, but if going on just...

The Autumnlands: Tooth and Claw #5...

4 Stars, buy it   Self Purchase, Comixology   Councillor Sandorst places Gharta and Affa under arrest.  Goodfoot is still plotting with the Bison. Meanwhile, the Champion is working on some secret stuff. Dusty seems to be the narrator most of the time and I like him a lot. Overall this is a decent issue but not as exciting as some of the previous ones.  The Owl (Councillor Sandorst) seriously makes me mad. But every comic needs a bad guy. But the anxiety he provokes! Anyway still a great series and I still recommend buying it.   Description (Comixology): The conspirators make their move, but the Champion has a few surprises for...

4 Stars, Borrow it Self Purchase, Humble Bundle A teenager (Sail?) and her parents move to a new town. (Mom in a wheelchair by the way). In the previous town a girl who bullied Sail disappeared and Sail is apparantly blamed.  In this first issue it’s getting to know everyone. The art is fantastic, I’m definitely loving the colors. I like the story line so far, its creepy and I’m not sure where it’s going to go.  I think I may try a few more issues on comixology to see if it continues to be good. Description (Booklikes): Across the globe, century after century, men and women were burned, drowned, hanged, tortured, imprisoned, persecuted, and murdered for witchcraft. None of them were witches. They died protecting a terrible and hidden truth: witches, real...

Oddly Normal #8

4 stars, buy it Self Purchase, Comixology First Impression: Loving the art still. Oddly visits a mad scientist’s house and meets his sons whom she becomes friends with. It was recently her birthday and she mentions it and the guys are going to help her get a birthday present and there the issue ends. At first, I thought I’d only rate this issue 3 or 3.5 but I decided to bump it up to 4 because I like that this story arc seems to be continuing.  Love the art, story wasn’t bad so 4 stars it is. Description (Comixology): Oddly visits the secret lair of a mad scientist (and...

4 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology SPOILERS Not really sure what to make of the beginning of this new story arc. I’m really kind of confused. It seems that most of the people from the research facility story line have died in helicopter crash but Jo has survived. Then the government is asking her to take on some kind of new project.  I still really like this but can’t tell exactly what is going on so I had to down rate this a little. But overall I would still recommend buying this series. Description (Comixology): Beginning the second TREES story, “Two Forests.” The Orkney Tree, set among the standing stones of that remote island, seems almost like it was always meant to be there. But, following the events in Svalbard, it could be...

4.5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology I really love this series so far, but that being said, I still don’t get the opening pages of this series. In every issue it almost starts like a book. It’s a bit weird but so far it really is the only thing I don’t like much about the series. The champion and the white dog go to investigate why the group was attacked by bats and also to see the Bison situation. Meanwhile Goodfoot is manipulating Councillor Sandorst and is plotting the destruction of the survivors or so it seems. The champion and Dusty return to the group and the champion is bargening with Goodfoot.  The issue pretty much ends there. I like this issue, but not quite as much as the others. I realize not...

5 Stars, Buy it Self purchase, Comixology Kimber and Stormer break up before they even got going. But still, they have a kiss!!! Meanwhile Jerrica and Rio are still hitting it off. Kimber is almost late for their very first performance.Jem meets Rio but he’s not impressed and wants to be with Jerrica- very cute and sweet. Stormer is also almost late for the Misfitts on air show.   Overall, another fantastic issue. I have to give it 5 stars because of the full on Girl on Girl kiss (Yeay!).  At the end of the issue, Jem and the holograms are performing and the stage and equipment start to fall apart. And of course it ends there. Can’t wait for next issue. These can’t come fast enough for me!!!!!!   Description (Comixology): Jem and...

Alex + Ada #15 (The Final Issue)...

5 Stars, Buy it Self purchase, Comixology The final issue. MAJOR SPOILERS Alex goes to jail. Ada has been torn apart and boxed up. The person who turned Alex in was not who we all thought- and the reasons are mind blowingly awful. Alex is released after 25 years in jail (!!!)  He gets Ada back and people fix her up but she’s basically gone.  But somehow, after digging in Ada’s system, Alex is able to fix Ada up back to her old self.  And also sentients got rights to exist. Funny how I decided to read this on the day the US Supreme court rules in favor of marriage equality for gays and lesbians. This issue was a real emotional rollercoaster, but in a good way. It had a very happy ending...

3.5 Stars, Borrow Self Purchase, Kickstarter, paperback Definitely like Zawa’s character. She and her instructor Skirnir, meet Kai and his Golem on the beach. They decide to allow Kai and the Golem to travel with them and so they make camp. Kai follows Zawa and Skirnir when they go off to deal with a problem which turns out to be zombies. And that’s about it. I really like the art, it’s especially nice. I love how it fills the pages and there is not any large borders which eat up the limited art space. The colors are fantastic, bright and bold and really grabbed my attention Ok, here is where I turn into a book nerd.  I LOVE the feel of the paper as I’m reading this. It’s awesome and pretty. However, I feel...

5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology First Impression: definitely like the art and the story is facinating. OMG I LOVE this comic. Holy crap it’s awesome (even if it goes over my head in places).  I think my favorite story line is of the asian kid who is trying to find himself, though the researchers is also a great story line. I’m not really sure of how I feel about the third story line as I’m not clear as to what is really going on there.  I love that this is LGBT- there is a transgender person. I love the sex talk between Chengeli and the old man. Love lots of things about this. The writing is awesome and so is the art. The cliffhangers it left me on made me want to...

5 Stars, Buy it. Self Purchase, Comixology So the champion doesn’t seem to know he’s the champion and he is confused as to where he is.  Two of the animal characters are arguing and then Goodfoot enters – possibly a fox as they are known to be sly and tricksters.Councillor Sandorst- is the owl and is attempting to take charge and seems to be making friends with Goodfoot. Gharta- is the warthog and seems to be being pushed out of the way by Sandorst and Goodfoot. Meanwhile, the champion comes back to help the others who aren’t being protected by other animals (who are headed by Gharta). OK seriously, don’t like Sandorst, not that we are supposed to. But really what an obnoxious Owl. Also the Champion curses like a Sailor (so do I,...

3.5 Stars, Borrow it   Self Purchase, Kickstarter, Physical copy   First Impression: Art is great, story is not so bad.   This is the story of Kai, who is living on a spaceship. Because this is a young adult comic, there are of course bullies and such. However, the crew of this ship is forced to abandonship, leaving Kai behind in a pod. There is a section of tribal people on a planet and I found that part a bit confusing.  Kai lands on this planet called Urth and there it ends with the tribal people finding him on a beach.   I really like the art, but feel like the story line could be improved a bit. I found parts to be disjointed and not making sense. But this is issue #0...

5 Stars, Buy it Self Purchase, Comixology The kids are going to be trained as monster killers finally.  They are told to stay in the house no matter what the cost and then just survive.  Of course, they are terrified. First up a vampire.   Several other monster attack and this issue is left on a cliff hanger. ARRRRGGGG it’s going to suck waiting for the next issue of this.  I know I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating, this is what I wanted Locke and Keye to be. (I may go back to that eventually but I’m not sure). This issue was bloody fantastic (pun sort of intended).  The art and colors kicked ass and the story was a lot of fun. The cliffhanger ending was frustrating but I’m definitely looking forward to...
