Owly: Bright Lights and Starry Nights...

Feb 20, 2014 by

5 Stars Self purchase for Kindle. Alas, I have gotten to the last of the Owly books.  I do hope more come out as I totally love these. Yeay, this one is in color! The books are the comics are black and white. LOVE how all the little critters are drawn. In this book, the bats are insanely cute, especially when Owly gets lost in the woods.  If you are new to these series of books and graphic novels, they are stories of creatures in the woods. The two main characters are an Owl who can’t fly and his best friend, a worm.  There is very limited text, basically just for noises, no conversations. Everything shown through the art. Occasionally it can be confusing but overall amazing.   Of course it’s way too short but...

Star Rating Art: 5 Stars Star Rating Story: 5 Stars Netgalley review. First Impression:  Art is nice, poetry is good.  I wasn’t expecting the text to be in poetry form but I don’t mind it. This is a proof copy. I can’t tell if the fi Very original. Loving the poetry and the black and white art is great too.   This is a great graphic novel. I wasn’t positive about it at first but by the end I totally loved it.  It’s a cute love story of Dreary and Naughty. Dreary is a s skeleton who tends to be depressed and am not sure what Naughty is supposed to be. Maybe a demon of some sort and she is a popular girl in school. . In any case they are a cute couple.   This...

The Mermaid and the Shoe

Jan 28, 2014 by

5 Stars Netgalley review- on iphone. First Impression: Loving the art. I love it when the colors completely fill the pages and there aren’t borders. Minnow is a mermaid who has 49 sisters, all of whom are talented at something, except for Minnow. Minnow is only good at asking lots and lots of questions. One day she discovers a shoe and sets out to discover what a shoe is. She finds out and returns home. Her sisters are dismissive, but her father, King Neptune shows he adores his daughter just like she is. This book is so juicy and sweet and amazing. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book....

Reindeer, Look and Learn!

Dec 12, 2013 by

4.5 Stars! I admit I was a bit put off by the Moose Look and Learn. But I’m back and willing to giving the series some more time. Since my Iphone was smashed this morning, I can’t read some of my review stuff until I replace my phone (tonight hopefully). So instead I thought I’d borrow the Look and Learn Reindeer edition from Amazon. You know you missed these while I was sick right?? So I thought the Reindeer one would be fun since it’s kinda close to Christmas. I didn’t do the Turkey at Thanksgiving cause I’m just not into Turkeys. I love most animals but I still eat them and Turkeys are just not interesting to me. Some cute close up, “nose shots” of them. Can’t really explain a nose shot but...

Originality: Very Original. Love the little catepillar, discustingly cute! Can’t wait to read the next Children’s book as they are IN COLOR. Yes, its worth mentioning again. Also the next one has bats on the front. I LOVE bats. Anyway, just as cute as the comics but shorter. Bumer. Still worth 5 stars though....
