The Croc Ate my Homework

4 Stars Buy it This is the second in the children editions of Pearls Before Swine. Definitely cute but I miss the running commentary of the treasuries. This book is nicely designed and I like how some of the pages have a colored background. I really liked the Christmas pic stops on pages 56-57.  This is sweet and cute but not as juicy and full of awesome like the first one in the Pearls for children series.  Since it’s geared more for children some of the bitterness and crabiness is taken out and so its left fealing a little more like muts. That all being said, it was still awesome and fun. Will always continue Pearls, I love those guys!...

Pearls Falls Fast

5 Stars, BUY IT. Self purchase, paperback then switched to Kindle version. Minor Spoilers OMG I finally finished this. I think I’ve been working on this for like 4 months. OY.  But it was fun. And I loved it.I don’t normally have time to read the strips in the newspapers so I get the books when they come out. Sometimes it takes awhile to read them because its so nice to just pick up and read a few when you have 5 minutes.   I Love Pastis running commentary in the treasuries which is why I wait for those instead of the individual collections.  As a side note, I was introduced to this series via Netgalley. Love the Lil Guard Duck!  I love the strop on page 18 where rat gives “talking with simpletons and...

Lions, Tigers, and Crocs Oh My! A Pearls Before Swine Treasury...

3 Stars, borrow it/buy it for collection Self Purchase First Impression:  O.K. This is the weakest of all the treasury’s that I’ve read. You’d think it be the first one but it isn’t.  Even the running commentary isn’t as strong in this volume. IDon’t like rat’s stories. They usually involve too much reading (obviously I like reading but comics should be short and sweet) They annoy me. The Political one on page 25 killed me. Commentary as well.  But I miss the crocodiles!!!!!  The crocodiles finally show up at the end, so that was good.  But this book was a bit disappointing. As always, I love the cross over strips though most of the ones in this treasury weren’t as good as others.  I do like the good, the bad and the ugly section...

Pearls Blows Up

Star Rating Art: 4 Stars Star Rating Story:  5 Stars Overall: 4.5 Stars, Buy it Paperback purchase.  First Impression: Hysterical. The later books are better. I will always think of my dad when I read comics because he always loved comics. He always encouraged me to read, no matter what it was, even if he didn’t like what I was reading. Anyway, I’m sure my love of comics comes from him. Our favorite together was Calvin and Hobbes. Then I loved Mutts (Still do). Dad died two days before my wedding 5 years ago, obviously after Pearls started. I wasn’t reading comics much at that point, but I like to think that Dad would have really enjoyed or did enjoy this comic.   The introduction is funny, normally I skip them.  I absolutely love...
